The photography series “A Scroll Down (Spatial) Memory Lane” is an ever-growing collection of digital memories archived through a curated gallery of screenshots taken via Google Earth’s Street View feature. Inspired by the visual aesthetic of travel photos which originally used to be shot using portable devices such as disposable cameras and digicams while on vacation, they serve as re-enacted snapshots of various, technically unphotographed moments within the artist’s life in order to indirectly capture a glimpse of these distinct recollections, aiming to encapsulate the intense emotions that are inevitably connected with the depicted places. With each of the images being titled in accordance with the exact coordinates of its respective location, the project ultimately puts focus on how our nostalgic subjectivity commonly leads to differences in how we perceive our surroundings based on the individual memories, stories and feelings we associate with them.
