The videographic work TRUE / FALSE, implemented as an interactive installation via beamer projection, acts as a visualization of the unreliable nature of the information stored within the human brain that is—stuck in a constant loop of encoding and decoding—inevitably being pervaded by factors of natural memory distortion and consequential inaccuracy.
Just like digitally stored datasets, whose information consists of a unique symbiosis of the Boolean values 1 (or “true”) and 0 (or “false”), the content of our memories too is composed of a never-ending, flowing accumulation of ambivalent components, intrinsically including both true and false fragments. However, while generally being aware of our memories not being exact replications of objective reality, we typically become blind to the omnipresent unreliability of our internal memory system within everyday life, failing to perceive the unchangeable reality: All of our memories are both true and false.
